I'm working on it

I woke up exceptionally early this morning, made muffins, did laundry, dishes, did my goat chores, and waited on the rest of the house to awaken. I had to wait awhile. Once everyone was up I put them to work cleaning, hoeing, and planting seeds. We managed to plant several types of beans, some cucumber, melons, and sweet corn all before noon. I wish every day could go as smoothly, the garden would have been in long ago and my house would finally be clean. The reality is far less spectacular. I'm working on training my body to get up earlier and work harder while eating less junk. I can already feel my arms improving, now if my abs would just melt away..........

I do find myself appreciating this life I've chosen more and more each day. Since TV is going digital and the days are warm, we are all spending much of our day outside and it shows. The yard has never looked better and I've planted far more in the gardens this year than ever. Instead of watching the idiot box, we have been mowing, raking, planting and improving. We have cookouts often and have time to just sit on the porch and watch the traffic go by. I especially like watching the farm boys ride by on their tractors this time of the year:) It's nice to just sit and chat with my husband too.

It's good to be a farm wife, even though I have to work at it.
